What a day!

It has been a long time since I have had a day like yesterday. I am one of those guys that really misses my girls when they are gone. One of the ways that I have found to deal with that is by staying busy when they are gone. That takes a number of different forms; work, ministry, friends, falling asleep on the couch with the t.v. on. This is the first time that I have had my son with me, while my girls are away. So we made the most of our day.

Awston got up with me at 4am to go unload the delivery truck at work. We finished up there around 7:30 and came back home. We rested for awhile. Then we headed out to run some errends. Came home and had some pizza rolls. Man I love those things! Then we headed down and bowled about 3 games. He is working on spinning his ball when bowls, like his old man. Then we spent some time at the pet store before we headed off to a movie.

After the movie we headed for the beach to try out our new skim board that we had purchased earlier in the day. Unfortunatly, Tropical Storm Fay had torn up our beach enough that they had to close it down. We were really bummed about that. It was one of those awsome summer Florida nights, would have been great for the beach. So instead we headed to a good friends house with the intention of shooting some of his guns. When we got to his house we saw that part of his yard was flooded, so we decided to go ahead and try out our skim board in his yard. That was fun, but then he brought out his four wheeler. What a blast! It is every boys dream to go four wheeling in the mud. (Thanks Dale!)

After that we headed to my parents house for a bit. Awston got some ice cream from Grandma and I got to finish off the day talking about ministry with my dad. It was just one of those days that you get done and you pour yourself into bed, and thank God for the opportunity to enjoy basking in His glory! My encouragement to all of you -- don't neglect your "play time." God wants you to enjoy all that he created.
